Glass Eye of the Beholder
Anita. Remember Anita? That character that showed up ages ago, who hangs out in the kitchen. I decided we hadn’t seen enough of Anita, and you should get to know her better. And one of the guests of Anita’s Kitchen, Bee, who like filching food, but sometimes leaves their glass eye behind.
30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: Mermaid
For drawing practice outside of Tavern Wenches, I’ve currently been doing the 30 Day Monster Girl Challenge. (Although I haven’t been drawing all the monster girls in order)
hi guys! this is a comic i made for a final in my comics in literature class. we had to do a research paper on a topic we’d discussed in class and then accompany it with a comic with a relevant subject. my paper was about hyper-sexualization of women in comic books, but i decided to broaden it out here as well as personalize it and make myself the subject and discuss something i’ve been subjected to in the convention circuit and on the internet as well as thousands of other women, as well as give a cue to thought about how the comic book industry as well as the video game industry and even just media in general (all of which are male dominated) push such ridiculous pressures onto girls and women.
also, it feels kind of silly to have to add this since i hope it’s obvious, but i am very aware that there are men that don’t subscribe to this attitude, and am incredibly grateful that these issues are brought to light to people other than the ones that are subjected to it.
anyway haha i have literally been staring at this for 9 hours i don’t even know which direction is up anymore. thanks for reading!!!
Fantastic.
This. This is amazing.
The Introduction of Mr. Tiny - Finished Version
I posted a version of this earlier, but the shading hadn’t been entirely finished, but I hadn’t really liked the final panel’s background. So here’s the updated version, which I feel looks a bit better. Sorry the finished version wasn’t up earlier - I was a bit busy this weekend and apparently decided this weekend I was going to do something somewhat ambitious for this strip (for me anyway). Slightly complicated poses and backgrounds, huzzuh! Slowly my art skills shall level up!
Weee, finished version of Monday’s Tavern Wenches. Now with More Backgrounds!
FUCK THIS. Just fuck it all to hell because fuck no. Just..no. Stahp. It’s 2013. Grow the fuck up.
Seriously guys. Boobs this big hurt all superheroes’ backs! Ack.
I am a bit worried about the naked skin exposure in very vulnerable spots. Kinda defeats the purpose of wearing “iron” armor.
And is that a peep hole in the armor near the top of her legs near her crotch? How the heck is that not chafing?
Contract Terminable Upon TPK
Another redraw today, this time of the second strip where Veronica originally got fired and (General) Management first appeared. Don’t worry about Mr. Tiny - I have decided that this works better as two strips, so a future redraw will go more into Mr. Tiny’s first appearance.
Inspired by Anita Sarkeesian’s Video Game Tropes vs Women, I wanted to pitch a Zelda game where Zelda herself was the hero, rescuing a Prince Link.
Clockwork Empire is set 2,000 years after Twilight Princess, and is not a reboot, but simply another iteration in the Zelda franchise. It just so happens that in this case, Zelda is the protagonist. I’m a very big Zelda fan, and worked hard to draw from key elements in the continuity and mythos.
This concept work is meant to show that Zelda as a game protagonist can be both compelling and true to the franchise, while bringing new and dynamic game elements that go farther than being a simple gender swap.
Hope you like it!
Did I mention that I’m a huge fan of Legend of Zelda? I WOULD PLAY THE SHIT OUT OF THIS GAME!!!
(Also, this is great inspirational stuff.)
I really wish this was a game.
Labyrinth has always been one of my favorite movies. Maybe because I found myself identifying with Sarah so much in my youth (similar name, love of fantasy), or perhaps it was because I really really wished the Goblin King would come and make me run his Labyrinth. (Although I never had the guts to wish my brother away).
This particular piece is inspired by the latest story arc in Pika-la-cynique’s Girls Next Door comic, where Sarah returns (with Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter), to the Labyrinth, wearing Jareth’s medallion of power.
Although in this picture, she seems to have gotten her hands on one of Jareth’s magic crystal balls, and apparently means business - so I doubt this trip to the labyrinth isn’t for the good of Wizarding Science.
